Making

feel simple.

Art Direction + UX + UI & Illustration

A tracker built to replace a spreadsheet that already worked.

I already had the data. It lived in a Google Sheet, and every row cost me the typing. So I built the app to find out what changes when the same numbers stop asking to be entered twice.

Spökpejl

Labs · Writing · Web app · 2026

A crime novel written in dialogue with a language model, and the reader I built so it could be read on a phone.

I wanted to know whether a novel could be written together with a language model, and what that would demand of me. It could. The work simply moved: from forming sentences to holding structure and continuity together, and deciding what got to stay.

Länsförsäkringar

Client work · UI · UX · Design system · 2018–2024

Primary UI designer on the B2B broker portal, design-system groundwork, and editorial illustrations that communicate complex products without looking like insurance.

I worked as a freelance consultant at Länsförsäkringar from 2018 to 2024, across three parallel tracks: a suite of illustrations for the consumer website, groundwork for LF's internal design system, and the redesign of Förmedlarsidan — the B2B portal for independent brokers — where I served as primary UI designer and carried a large share of the UX work too.

När man har lite för mycket tid över så kan man återskapa en av 90-talets härliga datamaskiner.

När man har för mycket tid så blir det lätt så att man (jag) reproducerar en retrodator i digital form.

Airtours

Client work · Rebrand · Art direction · 2017

A UI redesign of airtours.se, and a gentle rebrand of the visual language that surrounds it — print ads, on-site promo, the whole travel-agency toolbox.

Airtours is a privately-owned Swedish charter-travel operator — the one with the airmail-striped logo tag. (As of 2022, it’s part of the Sunweb group.) I worked with them on two parallel tracks: redesigning airtours.se from the top down, and refreshing the visual language that sits on top of it — the discount stamps, the polaroid frames, the newspaper ads that make a booking feel like something you tore out of a holiday magazine.

More work

Primarily a visual designer.
Happily drawn into UX, icons, design systems,
and the occasional illustration.

Blacktip is run by me, Markus Norsted. Mechanical engineer by training; HND in technical illustration from Bournemouth, England. Landed somewhere between UX designer, visual artist and content maker — the split depends on the project.

Started out at agencies, web bureaus, design studios, consultancies. Went freelance in 2011. Spent a few years from 2018 as an in-house design consultant, learning how to work directly inside a client's organisation. In 2021 I revived Blacktip.

I try to stay near the top of my game. No problem saying “I don't know” or “Someone else can do that better.” Occasionally I do say — “Yes, I can. Better.”
